THE GROUNDS

The house sits in the foothills of the Apennines, surrounded by five acres of Italian oak and cypress trees. The driveway runs through our olive grove and is edged by cypress trees.

Throughout the grounds we have created various seating areas – a large oak tree provides the perfect lunch spot, there is a table and chairs beside the pool for dining variety or privacy depending on your mood, and the loggia is the place to eat supper and watch the sun set over the distant hills.

Our large pool is 12 x 6 metres and has a very wide first step with a water depth of 20cm making it ideal for young children to splash about in. The pool is securely fenced and surrounded by terracotta paving and grass with a shower to one side.  Around the pool we have classic wooden loungers and also a large table and chairs under an umbrella, a great place for lunch or cards.

There are many walks of differing lengths and difficulty, depending on how strenuous you are feeling, through the olive grove beside the house, down to the derelict church below and along established paths in the area.
